ECF Responds to the EU Commission's 2020 Strategy Plans |
The European Climate Foundation has released an official response to the European Commission's decision to draft an "EU 2020" strategy consultation.
The plan by the Commission, focusing on increased efficiency of energy, natural resources and raw materials, will serve as a foundation for increased productivity, innovation and "smarter" and "greener" growth for Europe. This plan fits in line with Europe's 2050 climate commitments, and the European Climate Foundation (ECF) views this as an ultimately winning strategy.
Therefore, the ECF has embarked on a project designed to assist the Commission in efforts to chart an Energy Policy Roadmap for the coming five-to-ten years. The resulting report will be based on the near‐term implications of Europe’s existing long‐term climate and energy commitments. Specifically engaging the European power sector in 2020 and 2050 goals, the project will also inform policy decisions and energy efficiency measures.
