30/11/11 New UNEP "Bridging the Emissions Gap" Report Released

Last Thursday, UNEP's Bridging the Emissions Gap was launched in London by Achim Steiner, head of UNEP. It is now the 2nd Emissions Gap report which was initiated by ECF in 2010 as the authoritative source of information on the size of the gap between current commitments, and what is needed for a <2°C pathway. It is based on an assessment of scientific literature involving 50 scientist from 18 research groups in 15 countries.

30/11/11 EU "nearly Zero-Energy Building" targets announced for 2020

The EU has set ambitious targets to ensure that from 2020 all new buildings consume very little energy and it has created the term “nearly Zero-Energy Building” or nZEB. But acknowledging the variations in building culture and climate throughout Europe, European building legislation (EPBD) does not prescribe a uniform approach to nZEBs.
